Events & Entertainment Production

Finance towable and mobile generators for event production, concerts, film sets, festivals, and outdoor venues. Funding paced to the completed file, new or used, B/C credit OK.

Show power is a specific discipline, and anyone who has powered a touring concert, a major outdoor festival, a stadium live event, or a film production location knows that generated power in entertainment is not the same as generated power in a building. The load is variable by the minute. Audio amplifiers draw very different current depending on the material being amplified. Stage lighting moves from near-zero to full draw across an entire automated rig in seconds. On a production truck parcel, a dozen isolated ground circuits need to coexist without interference between broadcast electronics and the muscle of the stage power distribution.

We finance towable generator sets and mobile generators for production companies, concert touring companies, outdoor festival operators, stadium and arena production departments, broadcast remote production companies, film and television location production, theatrical touring, and the power rental companies that serve all of the above. The generator types in this market run from 30kW towable units handling a small corporate event to 1MW or larger fleet deployments powering multi-stage music festivals with full camping and vendor infrastructure.

Event production companies that build an owned generator fleet rather than renting at every show change their cost structure materially. Rental rates for show power equipment are high because the demand is concentrated, the deployment logistics are complex, and the provider has to recoup equipment costs on a utilization rate that reflects the episodic nature of the business. Owning the iron and financing the acquisition spreads that capital cost over five to seven years while capturing the full daily rate on every show the company powers itself. For fleet acquisitions under $400k, application-only financing keeps the process simple and fast.

Who Buys Event and Production Generators

Concert touring production companies that provide audio, video, and lighting services for touring artists typically own the generators they need for outdoor and amphitheater shows where venue power is inadequate or unavailable. A touring production company that works 200 show dates a year has consistent generator utilization that makes ownership the obvious choice over weekly rentals, and the touring season creates a predictable cash flow pattern that supports financing.

Outdoor festival producers operating multi-day events, from large regional music festivals to culinary events to motorsport spectacles, need generated power for stage infrastructure, vendor buildings, campsite distribution, food and beverage operations, and all of the behind-the-scenes logistics of a temporary city. A well-organized festival operator owns or has long-term relationships with the generators that power its signature events, rather than piecing together rentals from multiple sources each year.

Film and television location production is a consistent buyer segment. A feature film production with extensive location shooting in remote areas relies on its generators as the power utility for the production, running lighting rigs, camera equipment, sound gear, the base camp with craft services and trailers, and often the production offices in a location vehicle. The production company that acquires its own generator fleet rather than renting is in a better position on cost for longer location shoots.

Power rental companies that serve the events market itself are a major buyer segment. These companies own generator fleets specifically to rent to event producers, touring companies, and venue operators on a job-by-job basis. Their utilization model requires continuous fleet expansion and refresh, and financing is the standard capital tool for fleet growth. We finance event power rental fleets as a business in the same way we finance any equipment rental company fleet acquisition.

The Generator Types That Power Events

The bread-and-butter of the events generator market is the diesel towable set in the 100kW to 500kW range. Units like the Multiquip DCA Series and the Atlas Copco QAS series are specifically designed for the temporary power market and are familiar equipment to event production crews. These sets are designed to be towed behind a truck, set up quickly, connected to cam-lock or spider-box distribution, and taken down and moved to the next location within hours of show close. We finance these units individually and in multi-unit fleet acquisitions.

Sound-attenuated or ultra-silent generator enclosures are important in the event production market because the acoustic environment of an outdoor concert or festival has limited tolerance for generator noise at any distance where the equipment is audible. Many production companies specifically seek out low-noise-rated sets or invest in aftermarket sound attenuation enclosures. We finance sound-attenuated enclosure packages with the generator sets.

Larger events and multi-stage festivals often use paralleled generator sets to serve high-demand circuits or to provide redundancy on critical stage feeds. Losing power to the main stage at a headliner set is an event-ending failure, and serious production companies protect against it with redundant feeds from separate generator sources. We finance the full paralleling infrastructure alongside the sets when the production scope demands it.

For film productions in urban locations where diesel generator noise and emissions create issues with filming or local permit conditions, the inverter generator segment offers cleaner, quieter power for sensitive filming environments. Inverter sets are also preferred for equipment that requires clean stable power, including broadcast transmission equipment and digital cinema cameras and recorders.

New Versus Used Event Generators

The used event generator market is strong because equipment that comes off rental fleets, tour productions, or event company liquidations tends to have well-documented hours and maintenance records. A diesel towable that has been well-maintained through its rental fleet service life has substantial remaining productive life, and its purchase price reflects its age rather than its actual condition. Production companies that know how to evaluate used generator condition get excellent value in this market.

New equipment carries the advantage of known condition, full manufacturer warranty, and in cases where fuel-efficiency or emissions compliance matter for specific venue or permit requirements, the benefit of the latest engine generation. Tier 4 Final engines in newer sets produce less particulate matter and NOx than pre-Tier 4 equipment, which matters in jurisdictions where air quality rules apply to temporary power equipment at large events.

We finance both new and used event generators without a preference. The condition of the equipment, not its age, is what matters to us. A 10-year-old set with 2,000 hours and clean service records is a better acquisition than a 5-year-old set with deferred maintenance and no documentation, and we evaluate deals accordingly. Private-party purchases of used event generators from production company liquidations or tour company fleet reductions are eligible for financing through us.

Questions About Events & Entertainment Production

Straight answers before you send the generator file.

Can I finance a fleet of towable generators for my production company in a single deal?

Yes. Multi-unit fleet acquisitions finance as a single credit package, not individual deals per unit. The total package amount determines whether we are in application-only territory or need a financial review. Either way it is one application and one close.

My production company has a seasonal revenue pattern with most income in summer and fall. Can payments be structured to match that?

Yes. Seasonal payment structures that defer or reduce payments in slow months and weight toward the production season are available. Tell us your revenue timing when you apply and we will build the payment schedule around it.

I found a deal on a lot of used event generators from a company that is liquidating. Can I get financing in place quickly for a time-sensitive private-party purchase?

Yes. Private-party and liquidation purchases are eligible for financing, and we can move on a one to two week timeline. Have the equipment list and pricing ready when you contact us and tell us the deadline. The sooner we have a complete application, the sooner we can close.

We are a startup production company with limited credit history but strong contracts. Can we get financed?

Startup situations are reviewed on the full picture: the principals' personal credit, the contracts in hand, the operational history of the key people, and the specific equipment being financed. We have funded new production companies with solid contracts and experienced operators. It is not automatic, but it is not a flat no.

Can we finance the sound attenuation enclosures and distribution equipment alongside the generators?

Yes. Soft costs and related equipment like enclosures, cam-lock distribution hardware, and fuel tanks can often be included in the financing package up to a reasonable percentage of the core generator value. Include them in the quote you send us.
